When you’re sending packages, small changes can make a big difference over time. We’ve developed more paper-based packaging solutions which can be recycled easily after use.

Scotch® Paper Mailing Tape is made from 59% bio-based material with good adhesive strength to provide a reliable seal on paper and cardboard boxes.

For an even stronger hold we also offer Scotch® Box Lock™ Paper Tape, which is made with 45% bio-based content. This box packaging tape features an advanced adhesive that creates a secure seal over box edges. You don't need lots of layers of tape to get the job done, just one strip.

For protecting the items inside your packages, Scotch™ Cushion Lock™ Protective Wrap provides a cardboard alternative to plastic bubble wrap. It's an expanding paper cushion wrap that interlocks to itself to prevent your items from moving during shipping.

Packaging Tapes FAQ’s

What’s the difference between brown packaging tape and clear packing tape?
There’s no difference other than the colour. The most common colours for packaging tapes are clear, off white, and brown. Clear packing tapes are transparent after they’re applied, so writing can be visible, such as with mailing labels.
Why are there different kinds of packaging tape?
Different types of packaging tape exist to handle the different sizes, shapes and weights of the packages sent every day. For example Scotch® Heavy Duty Packaging Tapes are designed for sending heavy items as they provide an extra strong seal.
Do you offer more eco-friendly packaging supplies?
Scotch® Paper Mailing Tape is made from 59% bio-based material and features good adhesive strength to provide a reliable seal on paper and cardboard boxes. Also available is Scotch® Box Lock™ Paper Tape, made with 45% bio-based content and an advanced adhesive that creates a secure seal over box edges. So, you only need one strip to get the job done.

While Scotch™ Cushion Lock™ Protective Wrap is our cardboard alternative to plastic wrap. It's made from expanding paper that interlocks to itself to create a protective layer around your items.
Are these parcel tapes waterproof or weatherproof?
Scotch® Packaging Tapes will withstand a moderate amount of moisture for a short period, but they are not designed to hold through prolonged exposure to weather.
How do I load, refill a packaging tape dispenser?
1. Remove the old tape core. Place the new roll of tape on the large roller and press all the way down. Make sure that when you unroll the parcel tape the sticky side is facing down.
2. Pull the tape over the guide bar – near the handle – and under the second, smaller roller. Some packaging tape dispensers have a spring loaded bar here. If so, hold it back so that you can easily pass the tape through.
3. Pull the tape against the serrated edge.
4. Tape away!
